LaMonica McIver
D · U.S. House, NJ-10 · Tier 3/4
Tier 3/4, between “Pro-Israel, critical” and “Critical / conditions aid”
Several conditioning or Palestinian-rights acts and no pro-Israel lobby money at all. She cosponsors Block the Bombs (Jun 4, 2026) and the West Bank Violence Prevention Act, is an original cosponsor of the Jayapal Gaza humanitarian-aid resolution (H.Res.473, Jun 2025), and cosponsors Nadler’s H.R.6806, which affirmatively states that criticism of Israeli government policy is protected First Amendment speech and condemns the use of the IHRA definition to deport Palestine-solidarity activists. In 2025 she signed the letters demanding answers on the detentions of the student activists Mahmoud Khalil and Rümeysa Öztürk (March) and Mohsen Mahdawi (April), and the August Pressley–Pettersen letter urging Secretary Rubio to press Israel to allow a surge of aid into Gaza, above all infant formula. FEC shows zero from AIPAC, DMFI and CUFI in every cycle, direct, earmarked and independent. She does not use ‘genocide’ for Gaza in her own voice — all 92 press releases on her House site were checked. J Street has not endorsed her. On Sep 8, 2026 McIver signed the Dexter–Ruiz letter urging Secretary Rubio to press for the release of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, the Gaza pediatrician and hospital director held by Israel without charge or trial since December 2024. On October 6, 2026 she cosponsored the Stop the Settlements Act (H.R.10642), which would sanction those who build or expand Israeli settlements in the West Bank and Gaza and ban imports of settlement goods. In June 2026 McIver signed a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, led by Reps. Becca Balint and Joaquin Castro, on Israel’s operations in southern Lebanon, saying Israel’s “targeted, mass destruction of civilian homes and infrastructure does not constitute Israeli self-defense” and asking that, if U.S.-origin arms were confirmed in those operations, the administration “stop arms transfers being used in these operations until these violations cease”; the letter also affirmed that “Israel has a right to defend itself.”
A 3/4. Her main step toward limiting weapons is Block the Bombs, which she cosponsored in June 2026; that month she also signed the Balint–Castro letter asking the administration to stop arms transfers used in Israel’s operations in southern Lebanon until the violations cease, and in July she voted Aye on the Massie amendment to strip Israel’s military financing, though no statement of hers explains that vote. Beyond weapons, she cosponsors Nadler’s bill defending criticism of the Israeli government as protected speech, an uncommon signature, along with the West Bank Violence Prevention Act and the Stop the Settlements Act, and she was an original cosponsor of the Gaza humanitarian-aid resolution (H.Res.473). She voted against the 2025 ICC-sanctions bill and the 2026 anti-boycott bill. She has not used the word genocide for Gaza in her own voice, and no embargo position of hers has surfaced. FEC shows no pro-Israel lobby money in any cycle. Counter-case: 3, since the letter is a co-signed request that also affirms Israel’s right to defend itself, and the Massie Aye is unexplained.
