Laura Gillen
D · U.S. House, NY-4 · Tier 1/2
Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”
Co-sponsored the Antisemitism Awareness Act and HEAL Act; voted for ICC sanctions; led a bipartisan call to dismantle Iran’s uranium enrichment; was an original cosponsor of Dan Goldman’s Jewish American Security Act (June 2026). Her campaign site called her "a strong supporter of the state of Israel… the eternal home of the Jewish people" — language carried from 2024 through Feb 2026, then quietly deleted from her issues page by Jul 2026; that plank also backed “a firm commitment to pursue a two-state solution” and the return of hostages.
A 1/2, not a clean 1. Gillen is a reliable pro-Israel vote and cosponsor: an original cosponsor of the 2025 Antisemitism Awareness Act, the HEAL Act and Dan Goldman’s Jewish American Security Act; a cosponsor of the IGO Anti-Boycott Act and the U.S.–Israel Defense Partnership and FUTURES Acts; a Yea on the January 2025 ICC-sanctions bill and the September 2026 college anti-boycott bill; and a No on the July 2026 Massie amendment. She went on an AIPAC-sponsored trip to Israel in August 2025. Her campaign site called Israel “the eternal home of the Jewish people” until that plank came off in 2026, and she affirms its “right to exist and defend itself”; on Gaza aid, she signed a May 2025 group statement that it reach “Palestinian civilians and not Hamas,” said after the August 2025 trip that “the challenges in getting aid are caused by Hamas,” and in October 2025 applauded the hostage deal, which “implements a ceasefire and surges humanitarian aid.” Counter-case: a 1 if her one co-lead counts. She is the sole original cosponsor of Elise Stefanik’s Student Protection and University Accountability Act (June 2026), pitched as countering campus antisemitism, which would bar colleges that fail its Title VI complaint rules from federal student aid.
