Lauren Peña
R · U.S. House, TX-37 · Tier 1/2
Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”
In her 2026 general-election iVoterGuide questionnaire she wrote: “Yes. Israel is one of America’s most important allies and the only stable democracy in the Middle East.” An Austin legal advocate and Republican precinct chair who won the May 2026 GOP runoff and faces Rep. Greg Casar in November, she campaigns on human trafficking, immigration enforcement, education, veterans and cost of living; her site's only foreign-policy note is a general complaint about foreign aid spending relative to veterans' care.
A 1/2, on a thin record: one questionnaire answer. Asked by iVoterGuide in 2026 whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, Peña called Israel “one of America’s most important allies and the only stable democracy in the Middle East.” That is unqualified support, with nothing on aid, weapons, Gaza or Palestinian civilians. Her 2025 Ballotpedia survey, campaign site and campus-issues interview with The Daily Texan (Sept 2026) contain no statement on Israel, Gaza or campus protests. There is no leadership on the issue: no vote, bill or other act on Israel is on record. Counter-case: unrated until she says more.
