Tier 2/3, between “Mainstream pro-Israel” and “Pro-Israel, critical”

Position

In her 2026 general-election iVoterGuide questionnaire she wrote that Israel is “an important U.S. partner in a strategically vital region” but that “friendship should never mean a blank check,” and that U.S. policy “should promote Israel’s security while also protecting civilian life, upholding international law, supporting Palestinian dignity and self-determination, and pursuing a lasting peace.” An east Houston environmental-justice advocate and community-outreach director, she runs on affordability, infrastructure and immigrant rights.

Why this tier

A 2/3, on a thin record: one questionnaire answer. Asked by iVoterGuide in 2026 whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, she called Israel “an important U.S. partner in a strategically vital region,” then added: “But friendship should never mean a blank check. U.S. policy should promote Israel’s security while also protecting civilian life, upholding international law, supporting Palestinian dignity and self-determination, and pursuing a lasting peace.” Refusing a blank check and holding U.S. policy to civilian protection and international law goes past concern alone, but stops short of conditioning aid: she attaches no condition, names no conduct by Israel and takes no step on weapons, and the sentence leads with Israel’s security. Her Ballotpedia survey (2025), campaign priorities, about, news and endorsements pages and an Off the Kuff interview (January 2026) say nothing about Israel, Gaza or military aid. Counter-cases: 3, reading “never mean a blank check” as a pledge of conditions; 2, since one answer that leads with Israel’s security is all there is.
