Lucy McBath
D · U.S. House, GA-6 · Tier 1/2
Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”
AIPAC- and DMFI-backed; voted for the Israel aid supplemental and to sanction the ICC (twice), and took an AIPAC-sponsored trip to Israel. A reliable pro-Israel vote without a signature Israel record of her own. Suspended a 2026 governor bid in March 2025 and is running for another House term. She did not sign the House ceasefire resolution. In January 2024 she signed the Smith–Manning letter, whose signers “thoroughly reject” South Africa’s “charge of genocide” against Israel.
A 1/2. A reliable pro-Israel vote, often beyond her party’s mainstream: the April 2024 aid package and, with a minority of Democrats, the February 2024 Israel-only bill, both ICC-sanctions bills and the June 2024 ban on citing Gaza Health Ministry figures. She took an AIPAC-sponsored trip to Israel, AIPAC and DMFI back her, and in January 2024 she signed a letter to Secretary Blinken rejecting South Africa’s genocide case against Israel. She has expressed no concern for Palestinian civilians in her own voice since October 2023 (in May 2021 she wrote, “For the safety of the Israeli and Palestinian communities—I am praying this comes to a peaceful resolution”), and she leads no Israel legislation: her signature work is guns, health and education, and her one bill in this area, the Protecting Students on Campus Act (December 2025, introduced with Lois Frankel and three others), requires colleges to publicize and report Title VI complaints. Her breaks from the pro-Israel line include Nays on the November 2023 Tlaib censure and the May 2024 bill forcing delivery of the paused bombs, a Present vote on H.Res.894 and a Nay on the September 2026 anti-boycott bill; in September 2025 she signed the letter of 178 House Democrats opposing unilateral annexation of the West Bank, and in July 2026 she cosponsored the West Bank Violence Prevention Act.
