Tier 3/4, between “Pro-Israel, critical” and “Critical / conditions aid”
Withdrew from the Michigan Senate primary July 5, 2026, leaving a Stevens vs. El-Sayed race, and endorsed Abdul El-Sayed on Aug 5 once he had won it. Earlier: said the war meets 'the legal definition' of genocide and never retracted it, but stopped saying the word publicly and called the fight over it a “political purity test”; wouldn't take AIPAC; would cut U.S. aid while letting Israel buy Iron Dome-type defenses on its own. Called Israel’s Gaza attack a “moral abomination.” She supports restricting offensive weapons sales to Israel and is endorsed by J Street.
A 3/4, on her words. She called Gaza a “moral abomination” and said the war meets the legal definition of genocide — never retracted, though she stopped using the word publicly, calling the argument over it a “political purity test” — and as a Senate candidate who never held federal office she had no arms-conditioning conduct. She backs restricting offensive weapons sales, said she would have voted with the 40 senators who backed the Sanders resolution, and would reduce U.S. aid to Israel while letting it purchase Iron Dome-type defensive systems on its own. The retained defensive-systems carve-out keeps her short of a clean 4, though the aid reduction pushes harder toward 3/4 than a standard Iron Dome carve-out does; her AIPAC refusal is real distancing, though not enough on its own to shift her.
