Mark Tedford
R · U.S. House, OK-1 · Tier 1/2
Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”
In his 2026 iVoterGuide questionnaire he wrote that “Israel is one of America’s most important allies and a critical partner in the fight against terrorism and radical Islamic extremism. The United States should stand with Israel, protect our shared security interests, and support Israel’s right to defend itself.” No statement on Gaza or Palestinian civilians found. A Tulsa insurance and logistics executive and state representative since 2022, he led the June 16, 2026 GOP primary for the open OK-1 seat (Rep. Kevin Hern ran for the Senate) with 32.2% and became the nominee when the runner-up, Jackson Lahmeyer, withdrew from the runoff the next day, and Trump, who had endorsed Lahmeyer in May, switched his endorsement to Tedford; he is running an “America First” campaign on costs, immigration enforcement, waste and reindustrialization.
A 1/2, not a clean 1. “The United States should stand with Israel” and back its right to defend itself, with no word for Palestinian civilians, is the textbook zero-daylight position. There is no leadership on the issue: he has authored no Israel measure, and he was excused for the Oklahoma House’s April 30, 2025 votes writing the IHRA antisemitism definition into state law (SB 991) and school codes of conduct (SB 942), so he has no recorded vote on them. His questionnaire also takes the non-interventionist option on foreign policy (“avoid foreign entanglements that do not serve a clear American interest”), which does not soften his stated support for Israel.
