Tier 2, “Mainstream pro-Israel”
A four-term state representative and farmer; he left iVoterGuide’s Israel question unanswered in 2026 and has not completed a Ballotpedia survey in any cycle. Asked in a Santa Fe New Mexican questionnaire, published October 12, 2026, whether U.S. aid to Israel should continue, end or be conditioned, he wrote: “Israel is an important ally, and I support continuing the security commitments that serve our mutual interests. But support for an ally isn’t a blank check, and America’s interests must come first,” adding that Congress should “conduct real oversight of how aid is spent, insist it’s used consistent with U.S. law and press for protecting civilians and expanding humanitarian access.”
A thin 2, on one questionnaire answer. Asked by the Santa Fe New Mexican in October 2026 whether U.S. aid to Israel should continue, end or be conditioned, he wrote that he supports “continuing the security commitments that serve our mutual interests,” but that “support for an ally isn’t a blank check,” and that Congress should insist aid is “used consistent with U.S. law and press for protecting civilians and expanding humanitarian access.” That is concern for civilians not paired with Israel’s right to defend itself, with no condition on weapons and nothing specific about Gaza. Nothing else was found on his campaign materials or in coverage, and no Israel-related bill or vote of his in the New Mexico House. Counter-case: 1/2, reading “not a blank check” as boilerplate beside support for the security commitments.
