Marty Young

R · U.S. House, PA-6 · Tier 1/2

Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”

Position

In nine published answers to questions posed by the Houlahan campaign (September 2026), his one foreign-policy answer concerns Iran and war powers: “I will not rubber-stamp an unauthorized war or unauthorized spending” — even from a president of his own party. Asked in iVoterGuide’s 2026 general-election questionnaire whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, Young answered: “Yes. Capable ally, shared intelligence, missile defense, and technology we use. Interest is the test—not a blank check and not a veto over American strategy.”

Why this tier

A 1/2, on a thin record: one questionnaire answer. Asked by iVoterGuide in 2026 whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, he answered: “Yes. Capable ally, shared intelligence, missile defense, and technology we use.” He added that “Interest is the test—not a blank check and not a veto over American strategy,” a general qualifier that names no condition on aid or weapons, and he said nothing about Gaza or Palestinian civilians. There is no leadership on the issue. His Candidate Connection survey, issue pages and nine on-the-record answers never address Israel, and his war-powers stance on Iran is not a stance on Israel. Counter-case: unrated, reading “not a blank check” as a reservation, until he says more.
