Tier 4/5, between “Critical / conditions aid” and “Critical on most positions”

Position

Asked on his own site for his stance on Israel and Palestine, he answers: “The Israeli government is committing a genocide against the Palestinian people… I will not send any additional funding to Israel while they are committing atrocities. I stand with the Palestinian people.” He refuses AIPAC money (“I am against AIPAC and Citizens’ United”) and calls the Iran war unconstitutional. An educator, he is one of two Democrats challenging Speaker Mike Johnson in LA-4’s November 3 open primary.

Why this tier

A 4/5. As a challenger, he has no votes in Congress, so his words are the record. His campaign platform says it plainly: “The Israeli government is committing a genocide against the Palestinian people,” he will “not send any additional funding to Israel while they are committing atrocities” — all funding, not only offensive arms — and he does “not agree with sending money to any country that acts as the aggressor.” He adds “I stand with the Palestinian people.” An end to all aid with a lifting condition, beside the genocide named without hedging, sits at 4/5. It goes no further because it speaks to funding, not to denying Israel weapons it buys. Counter-case: a flat 4, reading the condition as leverage rather than an end to aid.
