Matthew Laszacs
I · U.S. House, NC-2 · not rated
A business executive and repeat Libertarian candidate (NC Senate 2022, NC House 2024), he runs on Congress reasserting its Article I powers, fiscal discipline and incremental “Classical Liberal solutions.” Asked in iVoterGuide’s 2024 questionnaire, for his NC House race, whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, he answered: “Israel is an important trading partner and an ally of the United States. We should maintain normalized relations with them. We should, however, stop sending them money with strings attached and untether them from the interests of Washington DC politicians.”
Not rated: his one statement on Israel is the 2024 iVoterGuide answer quoted above, which calls Israel an ally to keep “normalized relations” with and says the U.S. should “stop sending them money with strings attached,” framed as freeing Israel from Washington politicians’ interests; it says nothing on Gaza, Palestinians or weapons, and he left iVoterGuide’s 2026 questionnaire unanswered. His 2026 Ballotpedia survey and campaign site (home, about and district pages, and issue pages on education, healthcare, the economy and criminal justice carried over from his state races) never mention Israel, Gaza, Palestine or foreign policy, and Smarter.vote’s compiled profile finds no foreign-policy position.
