Tier 3, “Pro-Israel, critical”
A former NYPD officer and teacher from Staten Island, endorsed by Peace Action; his platform says he wants to end forever wars and that he “does not take money from corporate PACs or any PACs that lobby on behalf of a single foreign nation,” without naming Israel. On CBS New York’s The Point (October 10, 2026) he said aid to “any ally that is behaving in violating human rights or committing war crimes” should not be “this blank check”: “I would make aid to Israel conditional on the behavior that they’re doing currently, both on the West Bank and Gaza.” He said Israel should “stop their incursion into Lebanon, and pull back,” that “their government advocates for making sure that Gaza is cleaned out” and that what Israel is doing “is not purely defensive,” and that “Palestinians have a right to a state,” while adding “we want to be strong partners with Israel” and that Israel “will continue to try to defend itself.”
A 3, on a thin record: one television answer. On CBS New York’s The Point (October 10, 2026) he said he “would make aid to Israel conditional on the behavior that they’re doing currently, both on the West Bank and Gaza,” refusing a “blank check” to any ally “violating human rights or committing war crimes,” and said Israel’s government “advocates for making sure that Gaza is cleaned out” and that its conduct “is not purely defensive.” Conditioning aid on Israel’s conduct in Gaza and the West Bank is the core of a 3. He names no bill, has not called it a genocide, and pairs the conditions with “we want to be strong partners with Israel”; his platform refuses money from PACs that lobby for “a single foreign nation.” Counter-cases: 3/4, for the “cleaned out” charge and the line that Israel is not acting purely in defense; 2/3, for the partnership words and the absence of a named bill or of the word genocide.
