Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”

Position

A Greenwich physician and lawyer, he was also the Republican nominee against Rep. Jim Himes in 2024. His 2026 platform plank “Stand With Israel: Moral Clarity — Not Moral Equivalence” promises “Unwavering Support” (“Israel has the right to defend its citizens against terrorism. Full stop. No conditions.”), pledges to “Maintain and increase assistance,” and adds a federal anti-BDS contracting ban and zero UNRWA funding. In August 2024 he attacked the Biden-Harris administration and Himes for “delaying or not sending critical weapons” to Israel, and in September 2026 he wrote to area rabbis as “an America-first and pro-Israel candidate” to attack Himes's ties to CAIR.

Why this tier

A 1/2, at the pro-Israel edge of it. Everything on the record is unconditional support: the no-conditions platform with more assistance, anti-BDS contracting rules and zero UNRWA money; attacks on Himes for slowing weapons to Israel; praise for Israel's June 2025 strike on Iran (“We owe them a great debt of gratitude for their actions”); and a campaign against Himes over CAIR — with no expressed concern for Palestinian civilians anywhere. What keeps him off a clean 1 is that it is challenger rhetoric and platform, not leadership on the issue: no authored legislation, no anti-BDS enforcement he has driven, no marquee fundraising. A clean 1 is arguable if the platform and the CAIR campaign are read as a hardline brand.
