Tier 2, “Mainstream pro-Israel”

Position

A physician and former Democratic state senator now running as the Republican Senate nominee on border security, cost of living, trade and healthcare; his platform and 2026 Ballotpedia survey do not address Israel, Gaza or military aid. His campaign’s “Fire Coons. Hire Katz.” page faults Sen. Chris Coons for having “received substantial support from AIPAC-linked donors and pro-Israel PACs” and pledges “No PAC, corporate, or special-interest money — none, zero.” At an October 22, 2026 Rotary Club of Wilmington forum with Coons, Spotlight Delaware reported, he said Israel has a right to exist and Hamas must be disarmed, and that U.S. taxpayers should not pay for arms for wealthy, technologically advanced allies such as Israel.

Why this tier

A thin 2, on one forum answer. At an October 22, 2026 Rotary Club of Wilmington forum with Sen. Chris Coons, Spotlight Delaware reported, he said U.S. taxpayers should not pay for arms for wealthy, technologically advanced allies such as Israel, and that Israel has a right to exist and Hamas must be disarmed. Ending U.S. payment while leaving Israel free to buy its weapons is an argument about who pays, not about how the weapons are used. His platform and Ballotpedia survey do not address Israel, and his campaign’s attack on Coons’s support from “AIPAC-linked donors and pro-Israel PACs” is about campaign money, not a position on Israel. Counter-case: 1/2, if the arms line is a fiscal rule for every wealthy ally rather than daylight on Israel.
