Michael McGuire

R · U.S. House, NJ-3 · Tier 1/2

Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”

Position

Asked by iVoterGuide's 2026 candidate questionnaire whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, he answered: “I strongly support Israel as our closest ally in the Middle East and a critical strategic partner.” No statement on Gaza or Palestinian civilians found. A Marine Corps veteran, retired NYPD officer and Naval Reservist, he won the June 2026 GOP primary to challenge Rep. Herb Conaway, running on affordability, term limits, national defense and veterans' care; on foreign policy he backs “Peace through Strength, not endless intervention.” In WHYY’s October 2026 voter guide he said “Israel is America’s closest democratic partner in the Middle East” and that the United States must maintain “steady security cooperation, ironclad intelligence sharing, and weapons systems support like the Iron Dome,” and WHYY reported that he supports Israel’s right to defend itself.

Why this tier

A 1/2, not a clean 1. His statements on Israel — an unqualified declaration of support for Israel as America’s closest regional ally in iVoterGuide’s questionnaire and, in October 2026, a call for “weapons systems support like the Iron Dome” in WHYY’s voter guide — carry no word for Palestinian civilians: the textbook zero-daylight outcome. There is no leadership on the issue: he holds no office, and his campaign site and Ballotpedia survey say nothing further about Israel (his April 2026 Newsmax appearance praised Trump’s approach to Iran). The record is thin: three questionnaire answers, the third a 2026 NJ Spotlight News answer backing the Iran strikes: “by applying maximum pressure, we protect our allies like Israel and stabilize the region.”
