Michael Novakhov
R · New York State Assembly, District 45 · Tier 1
Tier 1, “Firmly pro-Israel”
Calls himself “a proud Jewish-American, a lifelong-Zionist and a stalwart advocate for Israel” (Oct 2025); relaunched a ‘Not on Our Dollar’ bill to counter the DSA-backed ‘Not on Our Dime’ act. Novakhov cosponsors A02139-A, Berger’s bill requiring state agencies to take into consideration the IHRA definition of antisemitism and its contemporary examples (referred to the Codes committee Jan 7, 2026). On October 29, 2026, after joining Joseph Hernandez’s press conference in Midwood against divesting state pension funds from Israel Bonds, he wrote: “New York must stand with Israel, not boycott it!” and “We will not allow anti-Israel activists to dictate New York’s investment policies!”
A Tier-1 champion in the state legislature. A Brooklyn Assembly Republican who calls himself “a lifelong-Zionist,” he authored the “Not on Our Dollar” bill specifically to counter the DSA-backed “Not on Our Dime” act, and speaks at pro-Israel rallies against what he calls pro-terrorist rhetoric. Counter-terror-funding legislation of his own — A5214 bars New York not-for-profits from materially supporting Hamas and terror-funding states — plus maximalist advocacy places him at 1, consistent with the other firmly pro-Israel New York legislators.
