Mike Cargile

R · U.S. House, CA-35 · not rated

Position

No position on aid, weapons or Gaza found. His campaign's Israel plank says “Mike believes that support of Israel is conditional. The tail CANNOT wag the dog. Our support MUST be based on its benefit to the United States...FIRST,” his 2026 iVoterGuide answer repeats it (“Our support of Israel is not unconditional.”), in 2024 he answered that the relationship with Israel matters because “They are our closest ally in the Middle East and a strong partner in many religious, cultural and economic areas,” and in 2020 and 2022 he answered “Strongly Disagree” to supporting BDS against Israel. An Army veteran and filmmaker making his fourth run against Rep. Norma Torres in CA-35, he calls himself “AMERICA FIRST” — “Not Israel first” — and says the campaign takes “NO financial support from AIPAC.”

Why not rated

Not rated: his 2026 Israel content is America First transactionalism — support “conditional” on U.S. benefit, “Not Israel first” — with no position on aid or weapons, on how the war is fought, or on Palestinians, and reading a pullback in support into it would be inference; his 2024 “closest ally” answer and his 2020 and 2022 rejections of BDS point the other way. Checked: his campaign site (home, issues, statements, endorsements, media), his iVoterGuide questionnaires from 2020, 2022, 2024 and 2026 and his 2020, 2022 and 2024 Ballotpedia surveys. Unrated until a view on aid or arms is stated.
