Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”

Position

Mississippi Republican who has voted for every tracked Israel measure — the Israel-only supplementals of November 2023 and February 2024 and the April 2024 package, the censure of Rashida Tlaib, H.Res.894, the May 2024 Antisemitism Awareness Act and bill to force the paused bomb shipment, both ICC-sanctions bills (Jun 2024, Jan 2025), the June 2024 amendment barring use of Gaza Health Ministry casualty figures and the September 2026 college anti-boycott bill — and against the 2025 Greene and 2026 Massie cuts. In January 2024 he urged colleagues to pass Chip Roy's bill to withhold U.S. contributions to UNRWA, of which he was an original cosponsor, calling it “an agency with a long history of promoting antisemitism and violence” and saying “Taxpayers should not be funding this radical organization.” His other statements frame the war around Iran: “We must stand with Israel, work to expand the Abraham Accords, and hold Hamas and its supporters such as Iran accountable” (Oct 2023). In January 2024 he signed the Smith–Manning letter, whose signers “thoroughly reject” South Africa’s “charge of genocide” against Israel.

Why this tier

A 1/2. A zero-daylight voting record and statements framed around Hamas, Iran and the Abraham Accords, with no leadership on the issue: none of his 45 sponsored bills and resolutions concerns Israel, and his UNRWA push was for another member's bill. No statement of concern for Gaza's civilians during the genocide was found; he pressed instead to defund the main relief agency in Gaza.
