Tier 2, “Mainstream pro-Israel”
Clinton Township Libertarian and perennial candidate whose platform would bring U.S. troops home from “the entire Middle East” and end threats and plans for attacks on Iran. Asked by iVoterGuide in 2024 whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, he said the U.S. should have “free and fair trade with all nations” and “we should not be paying for their military”; in 2022 he answered its BDS statement “Neutral,” saying such boycotts “should only be made at the personal/private level.”
A 2, on a thin record: two iVoterGuide answers, from 2024 and 2022. Asked in 2024 whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, he said the U.S. should have “free and fair trade with all nations,” adding: “Our relationship with Israel goes beyond that and we should not be paying for their military.” That would end U.S. payment for Israel’s military while keeping trade with Israel open, and nothing in it would stop Israel from buying its own weapons. The reasoning is non-intervention and free trade, in keeping with a platform that would bring U.S. troops home from “the entire Middle East”; he says nothing about Israel’s conduct, the genocide, Gaza or Palestinian civilians, and his 2026 materials do not repeat the answer. In 2022 he answered “Neutral” on BDS, saying such boycotts “should only be made at the personal/private level.” Counter-cases: 3, since the answer names Israel rather than foreign aid in general and never says Israel should keep buying U.S. weapons; 1/2, since he expresses no concern for Palestinian civilians.
