Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”

Position

Retired Air Force JAG colonel in a rematch with Rep. Val Hoyle, running on the Republican and Libertarian lines. Her campaign's Israel plank says America must stand “proudly and strongly with its allies, including Israel” and pledges “I will ensure that Israel and its enemies never doubt that America will stand for Israel and against terrorism.” In December 2023 she attacked Hoyle for not voting for H.Res.894, the antisemitism resolution, and demanded she return donations from the PAC of “virulent anti-Israel” Rep. Pramila Jayapal.

Why this tier

A 1/2, not a clean 1. Her own words are an unconditional pro-Israel pledge with zero daylight — no mention of Gaza's civilians anywhere — and she has used Israel as a line of attack on her opponent. That rules out a flat 2. But a challenger's pledge and an attack on a rival are positioning, not leadership: no authored legislation, no fundraising role, no hardline brand. Her caveats — she opposes “unlimited foreign aid without strict oversight” while backing allies' right to defend themselves, and in February 2024 urged House Republicans to attach the H.R.2 border bill to the Senate’s aid package for Israel, Taiwan and Ukraine, pledging “an end to blank checks” — are generic spending oversight and border politics, not conditioning, and do not count toward the critical end.
