Tier 2/3, between “Mainstream pro-Israel” and “Pro-Israel, critical”

Position

A September 20, 2026 Post and Courier profile reported that she “says Israel’s conduct in Gaza isn’t meeting the standards needed to justify U.S. military support, but called the country a ‘good ally’ and spoke of her previous work with the Israeli military.” A retired Navy admiral and former Chief of Navy Reserve who says Pete Hegseth removed her in 2025, the SC-1 Democratic nominee for the open seat runs on affordability, banning congressional stock trading and veterans' care; on Iran, her February 28, 2026 statement on the strikes says “The authority to declare war rests with Congress — not the President,” and a joint August 2026 release calls the U.S. war with Iran “ill-conceived and unnecessary.”

Why this tier

A thin 2/3, resting on one newspaper’s paraphrase. The Post and Courier’s September 20, 2026 profile reported that she “says Israel’s conduct in Gaza isn’t meeting the standards needed to justify U.S. military support.” That is a test of Israel’s conduct for military aid, but the words are the paper’s, not hers, and the same sentence reports that she called Israel a “good ally” and spoke of her previous work with the Israeli military. It commits her to no act on weapons, and nothing in her own channels repeats it: her campaign site (all 35 sitemap pages, including priorities, press releases and two October 2026 debate recaps) and her 2026 Ballotpedia survey never mention Israel or Gaza, and her statements on foreign policy concern the Iran war. Counter-case: 3, taking the paper’s account at face value, since a standard of conduct for U.S. military support is a conditioning position.
