Nikki Gronli

Position

Democratic nominee for the open at-large seat (on the ballot as Nicole “Nikki” Gronli): a Dell Rapids small-business owner with a career in marketing who led USDA Rural Development in South Dakota from 2022 to 2025 as a Biden appointee, after serving as vice-chair of the state Democratic Party. No documented position on Israel, Gaza or Palestine found. Her campaign’s priorities page covers the economy, disability inclusion, health care, education, agriculture, public safety and tribal issues, with nothing on foreign policy; her one foreign-policy statement, on the Iran war in an October 2026 Black Hills Pioneer questionnaire, says “Congress did not authorize this war” and calls for “a clear plan including diplomacy and bringing troops home,” without mentioning Israel.

Why not rated

Not rated: no documented position of her own on Israel, Gaza or Palestine. Checked her campaign site’s priorities, about and news pages, her Ballotpedia profile (no 2026 survey), iVoterGuide’s 2026 questionnaire (unanswered, including its question on the U.S. relationship with Israel), press coverage of the October 1, 2026 SDPB–News Watch debate, the Black Hills Pioneer questionnaire and her Bluesky account, which has no post of her own on the subject. Unrated until a position is stated.
