Tier 1, “Firmly pro-Israel”
Co-drafted, with Daniel Rosenthal, the letter signed by 25 state lawmakers condemning the Not on Our Dime Act — the bill barring New York not-for-profits from aiding illegal Israeli settlement activity: “This bill is a ploy to demonize Jewish charities with connections to Israel.” A2139-A (IHRA codification) cosponsor. Prime sponsor of New York’s anti-academic-boycott bill every session since 2019 — A256 in 2025–26 (same as S10065), which bars state aid to colleges for membership in, or travel to, academic bodies that boycott “a country or higher education institutions of a country.” The first Israeli-born member of the Assembly, she holds Israeli citizenship and has kept up sustained hostage advocacy since October 2023.
A clean Tier 1 on legislation she leads. She has been prime sponsor of New York’s anti-academic-boycott bill every session since 2019 (A256 in 2025–26, the Assembly version of Sam Sutton’s S10065), which bars state aid to colleges for membership in academic bodies that boycott a country, and in May 2025 she was prime sponsor of K509, congratulating Israel on its 77th anniversary. She also co-drafted, with Daniel Rosenthal, the 25-lawmaker letter that organized against Not on Our Dime, calling it “a ploy to demonize Jewish charities with connections to Israel,” and cosponsors A2139-A. Israeli citizenship and being the Assembly’s first Israeli-born member are biography rather than conduct and carry no weight on their own.
