Patrick Gillespie
R · U.S. House, TX-33 · Tier 1/2
Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”
In his 2026 general-election iVoterGuide questionnaire he wrote: “I believe Israel is the best friend the U.S. has in the world. With President Trump brokering peace in Gaza.” A technical writer whose career ran through Boeing, BAE Systems and American Airlines, and a former machinists’ union local officer, and the GOP nominee in TX-33 for the third straight cycle, he runs on border enforcement, fentanyl, a balanced budget and halting what he calls “overt Marxist actions”; his foreign-policy answer is “Peace through Strength” aimed at China.
A 1/2, on a thin record: three questionnaire answers. Asked by iVoterGuide in 2026 whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, Gillespie called Israel “the best friend the U.S. has in the world,” adding “With President Trump brokering peace in Gaza.” That is unqualified support: Gaza figures only as the place where Trump is “brokering peace,” with nothing on aid, weapons or Palestinian civilians. Asked the same question in 2024, he answered: “Yes. Because Israel the only real democratic government in the middle East. They would back us up in a fight.” In 2022 he marked “Strongly Disagree” on supporting BDS. His 2022 and 2024 Ballotpedia surveys, the 2026 campaign-site answers Ballotpedia quotes and his current site (home, about, Spanish and Vietnamese platform pages, blog) contain nothing on Israel, Gaza, Palestine or military aid. There is no leadership on the issue: no vote, bill or other act on Israel is on record. Counter-case: unrated until he says more.
