Tier 5/6, between “Critical on most positions” and “Most critical of Israel / supports Palestine”
Chuy García's longtime district director and chief of staff, now the Democratic nominee for his seat. Her campaign's issues page, under “End the Genocide in Gaza”, says what the Israeli government has done to Palestinians in Gaza “through mass murder and starvation is genocide” and backs an immediate, permanent ceasefire and “cessation of all United States military assistance and arms shipments to Israel in its attack on Gaza”; it affirms that the Palestinian people have “an inalienable right to self-determination, including the right of return”; and it adds that she “rejects the influence of AIPAC”. In a CBS News Chicago interview published October 14, 2026, asked whether the U.S. should keep supporting Israel, she said, “I have been a supporter of block the bombs act,” described it as “holding them accountable and in particular Netanyahu for the atrocities and the genocide that Israel has committed and that the US has been complicit in,” and said she supports humanitarian aid, a ceasefire and “ensuring that all hostages are returned and that we do have a right to self-determination for the Palestinian community as well.” In the same interview she said the bill “means not one more penny for Israel in terms of defensive aid”; the Block the Bombs Act itself bars offensive weapons. A Chicago Tribune profile published October 22, 2026 reported that she says Netanyahu should stand trial and that the U.S. must stop giving Israel military aid, and quoted her: “With him and others that are around him, they’ve committed a genocide, and we have to hold them accountable,” adding that the United States should be “leading the charge on that, not only because it’s politically right, but because it’s morally right.”
A 5/6, on a thin record. It rests on one campaign issues page. Under “End the Genocide in Gaza,” the page says what the Israeli government has done to Palestinians in Gaza “through mass murder and starvation is genocide,” calls for the “cessation of all United States military assistance and arms shipments to Israel in its attack on Gaza,” and affirms that the Palestinian people have “an inalienable right to self-determination, including the right of return.” The right-of-return line is what places her toward the critical end, but it is a single bullet she has not repeated: asked about Israel in an October 2026 CBS News Chicago interview, she named the genocide and cited her support for the Block the Bombs Act and for Palestinian “self-determination,” without mentioning the right of return, and the arms pledge is framed around the war on Gaza rather than as a standing embargo. As Chuy García’s longtime district director and chief of staff she has no voting record of her own yet.
