Patty McMahon

I · U.S. House, CO-6 · Tier 3

Tier 3, “Pro-Israel, critical”

Position

A Libertarian who spent 35 years at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, she runs on separation of powers, civil liberties, congressional spending oversight and “Opposing Unnecessary War” — “Endless war is not strength. It’s a disgrace” — without naming Israel, Gaza or military aid. Asked in iVoterGuide’s 2026 general-election questionnaire whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, McMahon answered: “Yes. Israel is an important democratic & strategic ally in a region dominated by authoritarian governments. It's been a strong ally of the U.S. and this relationship shouldn't be dismissed. But, valuing our alliance doesn't mean I support every action taken by Israel's government. I strongly oppose what its done in Gaza. I'm also troubled by its actions toward neighboring countries. Israel appears to provoke conflicts & then expects the U.S. to help. I disapprove of this behavior.”

Why this tier

A 3, on a thin record: one questionnaire answer. Asked by iVoterGuide in 2026 whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, McMahon called Israel “an important democratic & strategic ally” but said “I strongly oppose what its done in Gaza,” that she is “troubled by its actions toward neighboring countries,” and that “Israel appears to provoke conflicts & then expects the U.S. to help.” That is criticism of the war’s conduct inside an ally frame, with no step on aid or weapons. Her campaign site (home, On the Issues) and her 2026 Ballotpedia survey oppose “endless war” and unauthorized military action in general terms but never mention Israel, Gaza or military aid. Counter-cases: 3/4, if her objection to being drawn into Israel’s conflicts is read as a call to pull back support; 2/3, reading the ally frame as decisive.
