Paul LePage
R · U.S. House, ME-2 · not rated
As Maine’s governor (2011 to 2019), he joined AJC’s “Governors Against BDS” statement, signed by all 50 governors by 2017, which rejects “efforts to demonize and delegitimize Israel—America’s democratic ally in the Middle East—through the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement” and reaffirms “support for Israel as a vital U.S. ally, important economic partner and champion of freedom.” He runs on the border, inflation, jobs and veterans in the open ME-2 race against Democrat Matt Dunlap; at their October 1, 2026 debate he urged Trump to end the Iran war “as quick as possible” but said he would oppose a war powers resolution. In March 2019 he said Jewish Americans should be “absolutely insulted” by Rep. Ilhan Omar’s remarks, adding that Jewish Americans are where the Democratic Party’s money comes from “for the most part.”
Not rated: his campaign site (home, issues, Meet Paul) and Ballotpedia profile (no survey) say nothing on Israel or Gaza, and coverage of the October 1 and October 15, 2026 debates shows only Iran-war answers, which do not count as a stance on Israel. The 2019 remark condemned a critic of Israel’s supporters but stated no position on Israel or its military aid. His one stated position on Israel is the governors’ anti-BDS statement he joined in office, which calls Israel “a vital U.S. ally.”
