Tier 3/4, between “Pro-Israel, critical” and “Critical / conditions aid”
Quoted by the Capitol Hill Citizen (September 2026): “When we are facilitating and supporting a genocide…we are getting into these wars that are costing, putting it on the credit card essentially of our country.” In an August 2026 Illinois Public Media interview he said U.S. spending abroad “needs to be overhauled, and I think that applies whether you look at Egypt or whether you look at Israel,” adding that “people are getting sick of our money going abroad — regardless of what country it goes to.” Track AIPAC endorses him; a construction-apprenticeship nonprofit director who refuses corporate PAC money, he runs against Darin LaHood on Medicare for All and labor issues. Asked in a Shaw Local questionnaire published October 22, 2026 for his view of U.S. intervention abroad, “specifically with regards to Iran, Ukraine and Israel,” he answered without naming Israel: “We spend billions each year to fund governments that do not have our best interests in mind, while cutting funding for the most vulnerable groups like children in developing nations.”
A 3/4 on words alone. Calling U.S. support “facilitating and supporting a genocide” points toward 4, but he has stated no step to withhold weapons — no pledge to condition or cut arms, no Block the Bombs commitment — and his one first-hand answer on Israel is a fiscal critique of foreign aid that he applies to Egypt too and to money going abroad “regardless of what country it goes to”. The genocide line reaches us second-hand, without a date or venue. Counter-case: a flat 3 if that quote is discounted and the aid critique read as general non-interventionism; toward 4 with a weapons pledge in his own words.
