Pedro Casas
R · U.S. House, CA-38 · Tier 1/2
Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”
A retired Army colonel and clinical and forensic psychologist from Baldwin Park, he faces Democrat Hilda Solis for the open CA-38 seat, running on education standards, fentanyl and the border, and crime. Asked in iVoterGuide’s 2026 general-election questionnaire whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, Casas answered: “Critically important. Israel is a close ally of the USA. The Jews were almost exterminated in WWII. The idea that currently, 9 million Jews are a threat to 2 billion Muslims in the Middle East is preposterous. Any current claim of any part of Israel is completely in error historically. Jews and Christ inhabited all of what is now Israel, between 600 years and 3000 years before Mohammed ever existed. My Democrat opponents hate Israel.”
A 1/2, on a thin record: one questionnaire answer. Asked by iVoterGuide in 2026 whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, Casas called it “Critically important” and Israel “a close ally of the USA,” and went past ally words to the land itself: “Any current claim of any part of Israel is completely in error historically.” That rejects any rival claim to the land, and nothing in his answer or his record expresses concern for Palestinian civilians. His Ballotpedia page (no survey) and campaign site never mention Israel, Gaza or Palestine. There is no leadership on the issue: no vote, bill or other act on Israel is on record. Counter-case: unrated until he says more.
