Phil Gray

I · U.S. House, TX-26 · Tier 2

Tier 2, “Mainstream pro-Israel”

Position

Asked by iVoterGuide in 2024 “Is the United States’ relationship with Israel important, and if so why?”, he answered: “Israel has become our staunchest ally in the Mideast. That does not give them the right to subjugate others.” A property manager and perennial Libertarian nominee, he has run on paying down the national debt through voluntary immigrant payments and a revolving loan fund, drug decriminalization and a foreign policy that would “get away from nation building and interfering in foreign politics.”

Why this tier

A 2, on a thin record: one two-sentence questionnaire answer, from 2024. Asked by iVoterGuide whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, Gray wrote: “Israel has become our staunchest ally in the Mideast. That does not give them the right to subjugate others.” That is an ally sentence whose qualifier is aimed at Israel’s conduct toward others, with no position on aid or weapons. In 2020 he marked “Neutral” on supporting BDS against Israel if it refuses to allow a Palestinian state. His platforms as quoted by Ballotpedia (2022, 2024) call for non-intervention, to “get away from nation building and interfering in foreign politics,” but never name Israel; he left the 2026 questionnaire unanswered and has no 2026 survey, no live campaign site and no Vote411 answers. Counter-cases: 2/3, since “subjugate” is a sharper charge than concern for civilians; unrated, since the answer is from 2024 and he did not repeat it in 2026.
