Tier 4, “Critical / conditions aid”
Calls Israel a “genocidal regime” and, Jewish Insider reports, vowed to vote against additional U.S. military funding to it. Takes no corporate PAC, is Sanders-backed, and took the second runoff slot in the June top-two primary past a DMFI-backed moderate, and faces Rep. Valadao in November.
A 4, on a thin record: an interview line, a debate answer and a campaign-site page, with his vow reported second-hand. He names the genocide in his own words, telling Politico, as quoted by Barn Raiser, that voters are “increasingly aware of the billions of dollars we’re sending to this genocidal regime” while they struggle to afford gas and health care; at his October 2026 KGET debate with Valadao, GV Wire reports, he called Israel’s actions in Gaza “genocide” funded by American dollars; JTA reports he called for a ceasefire in January 2024. His commitment on weapons is reported rather than quoted: Jewish Insider reports that he “vowed to vote against additional military funding” to Israel if elected, Barn Raiser that he promises not to support the use of public money for wars, and GV Wire that at the debate he opposed the continued military aid to Israel that Valadao backs, saying the U.S. must stop funding “endless foreign wars.” None of these quotes him pledging to end Israel’s aid by name, and none reports a call for an arms embargo. His campaign site’s foreign-policy page names neither Israel nor Gaza, but lists “Palestine” among the “endless wars” Americans are “sick of” and says that “when it comes to war or bailing out other countries, we must get our priorities straight and invest in our own communities.” Counter-cases: 4/5, reading the vow beside the named genocide as an end to aid; 3/4, since the position rests on one interview line and reporters’ paraphrases.
