Richard Ojeda

D · U.S. House, NC-9 · not rated

Position

No documented position on Israel, Gaza or Palestine found, though Turn Left PAC — which grew out of his 2018 campaign and endorses him — tells donors on an ActBlue page whose thank-you note he signs that it is “fighting to elect leaders who will stand up to AIPAC and fight for a government that represents people, not foreign lobbies” and asks them to “help us take back our democracy from AIPAC’s control.” A retired Army major (24 years, 15 at Fort Bragg) and former West Virginia state senator, endorsed by the NC AFL-CIO and the state party's Progressive Caucus, he won the March 2026 Democratic primary to challenge Rep. Richard Hudson, running on veterans and the VA, a living wage, public schools, health care and ending gerrymandering.

Why not rated

Not rated: no documented individual position on Israel and Palestine; Turn Left PAC’s pitch against AIPAC’s influence states no position on aid, weapons or Gaza. His campaign platform, his 2026 Candidate Connection survey and the 18 pages in his site map never mention Israel, Gaza or Palestine, and no Israel bill or resolution appears in the West Virginia Legislature’s 2017 and 2018 regular-session lists from his time in the state Senate. Unrated until a position is stated; his heavy social-media output was not reviewed.
