Robin Ficker
R · U.S. House, MD-6 · Tier 1/2
Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”
Boyds farmer and real estate broker, a former state delegate and perennial candidate who won the June 2026 GOP primary. Running for Senate in March 2024, he listed protecting Israel among his reasons to run and, asked about civilian casualties in Gaza, answered: “If Hamas cared for Palestinian lives, this conflict and the misery it is bringing would be over tomorrow,” adding that Israel “is justified in defending itself” and that Egypt and other neighbors should be pressed “to shelter refugees from Gaza.” Asked in iVoterGuide’s 2024 Senate-primary and 2026 general-election questionnaires whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, Ficker answered “Yes. Israel has proven to be a stable and reliable ally in the region” (2024) and “Yes, they are our greatest ally” (2026).
A 1/2, not a flat 2. He mentions Palestinian lives only to blame Hamas, and in the same answer invokes Israel's justification in defending itself — a pairing that shows no real concern for Palestinian civilians — and his one policy ask is pressure on Egypt and other neighbors to take Gaza's refugees rather than any constraint on Israel. There is no leadership on the issue (no authored Israel legislation, hardline brand or pro-Israel fundraising), so his record, which never breaks from the pro-Israel position, sits at 1/2. The record is three questionnaire answers, two from 2024 and one from 2026; his 2026 campaign materials do not mention Israel.
