Rosemary Pino
R · U.S. House, NJ-9 · Tier 2
Tier 2, “Mainstream pro-Israel”
Republican nominee in NJ-9, a Clifton councilwoman and former Democrat. Asked about her Israel record in July 2025 she said “I support the State of Israel, its right to exist, and its right to defend itself” and “we must maintain that alliance, not cut it,” while backing “a ceasefire and an end to the hostilities in Gaza,” a two-state solution and humanitarian aid; as a councilwoman in 2023 she helped shelve a resolution adopting the IHRA antisemitism definition, saying she “got the impression from the community that this is non-negotiable,” and in June 2025 she thanked those at a Palestine flag-raising: “Your solidarity matters.” Asked in iVoterGuide’s 2026 general-election questionnaire whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, Pino answered: “Israel is a stable ally that shares our values and provides key intelligence. Under an America First policy, we prioritize stability that doesn't rely forever on U.S. taxpayers. By backing historic deals like the Abraham Accords, we help Israel and its neighbors handle their own security and trade. This protects our interests, respects the dignity of innocent citizens caught in the crossfire, and ensures our focus stays where it belongs: on our own country.”
A flat 2, with pulls both ways. Her stated federal position is reliably pro-Israel — right to exist and to defend itself, keep the alliance, two states — and her ceasefire and humanitarian-aid lines come in the same statement as Israel's right to defend itself, which on its own would read as a 1/2. What moves her off 1/2 is conduct: she helped keep Clifton from adopting the IHRA definition and publicly thanked a Palestine flag-raising for its solidarity. It stops short of 2/3 because she has never criticized the conduct of the assault or backed any limit on weapons; her 2026 questionnaire answer, that under an America First policy support for Israel should not “rely forever on U.S. taxpayers,” names no cut and no limit on weapons.
