Rudy Recile
R · U.S. House, CA-8 · Tier 1/2
Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”
A retired Army major and web-design business owner in his third race against Rep. John Garamendi (he lost in 2022 and 2024). His campaign site’s events page advertises a December 2021 fundraiser with a speaker billed as reporting on “the Biden Administration’s anti-Israel policy” and tells attendees they “will lend your support to Major Rudy Recile, candidate for Congress and proud supporter of Israel,” stressing “the importance of our relationship with Israel to America First foreign policy.” Nothing on Israel or Gaza since October 2023 was found.
A 1/2, not a clean 1. His own campaign presents him as a “proud supporter of Israel” — the textbook zero-daylight stance — with no expressed concern for Palestinian civilians and no leadership on the issue (hosting a speaker is not leadership). The record is thin and dates from his 2022 campaign; beyond a “Strongly Disagree” to supporting the BDS movement on his 2022 iVoterGuide questionnaires, his platform and surveys never mention Israel, so a current statement could confirm the placement or leave it resting on 2022 material.
