Tier 1, “Firmly pro-Israel”
South Carolina Republican who introduced H.Res.1533 (Oct 2024), reaffirming U.S. support for Israel on the first anniversary of October 7, saying “we should do everything in our power to ensure Israel has the support they need.” After a trip to Israel he was first signer of an April 2024 letter from 17 Republicans urging Biden to show “unwavering support for Israel, its military objectives in Gaza, and its inviolable right to self-defense”, to ensure Israel has everything it needs to exercise “its right to self-defense against Gaza, Iran, and its other adversaries”, and not to “tie the hands of the very forces fighting for the safe return of the innocent.” He has voted the pro-Israel side of every tracked measure — the 2023–24 Israel supplementals, H.Res.894, the Antisemitism Awareness Act, the May 2024 bill to force the paused bomb shipment (H.R.8369), both ICC-sanctions bills, the Gaza casualty-figures amendment and the September 2026 anti-boycott bill — and against the 2025 Greene and July 2026 Massie cuts.
A clean 1. He authored an Israel resolution and led a letter pressing the Biden administration to back Israel's “military objectives in Gaza” and not to “tie the hands” of its forces — initiative beyond voting — and the letter casts Israel's war as self-defense “against Gaza” itself, with no concern for Palestinian civilians anywhere in his record; his votes are zero-daylight. Counter-case: 1/2 if a commemorative anniversary resolution that never got a vote and a single letter are read as too light to be leadership.
