S. Marshall Wilson

I · U.S. Senate, West Virginia · Tier 1/2

Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”

Position

A former West Virginia delegate (2016–2020) and 2024 Constitution Party candidate for governor, he runs for the Senate on energy and jobs, balanced budgets and constitutional limits. Asked in iVoterGuide’s 2026 general-election questionnaire whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, Wilson answered: “Yes. The US shares an ethical and philosophical basis for coordination which our relationships with other Middle Eastern states lack.”

Why this tier

A 1/2, on a thin record: two questionnaire answers. Asked by iVoterGuide in 2026 whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, Wilson answered that the U.S. “shares an ethical and philosophical basis for coordination” with Israel “which our relationships with other Middle Eastern states lack.” That is unqualified support, with nothing on aid, weapons, Gaza or Palestinian civilians. Asked the same question in his 2024 run for governor, he said Israel’s “world-view, principle, and priorities align more closely with those of the US Founding than do those of any other nation in the Middle East,” adding: “This is not an assertion that either Israel or the US is always correct in all actions”; the caveat names no action. His campaign site (platform and delegate-record pages) says nothing about Israel, Gaza or Palestine, and his legislative record has nothing on Israel — none of the 332 bills his site lists him sponsoring concerns Israel, the 2020 anti-boycott bill (HB 4674) died in committee without his name on it, and the state's anti-BDS law (HB 2933) passed in April 2021, after he left office. There is no leadership on the issue: no vote, bill or other act on Israel is on record. Counter-case: unrated until he says more.
