Sarah McBride
D · U.S. House, Delaware at-large · Tier 2/3
Tier 2/3, between “Mainstream pro-Israel” and “Pro-Israel, critical”
'Staunch supporter of Israel'; backs Abraham Accords, aid, two-state; would not support McCollum-style aid restrictions. She cosponsored a US–Israel defense-cooperation bill; in her own statements she calls the loss of lives, homes and communities in Israel and Gaza heartbreaking and frames the ceasefire as a step toward safety “for Israelis and Palestinians alike,” with Palestinian civilians able to return to their communities. In 2025 she signed letters demanding answers on the detentions of student activists Mahmoud Khalil (March) and Mohsen Mahdawi (April) and the Pressley–Pettersen letter urging Secretary Rubio to press Israel to allow a surge of aid into Gaza, above all infant formula (August); in September she joined most House Democrats on the Schneider–Raskin letter to Netanyahu and his ministers opposing annexation of the West Bank. On Sep 24, 2026 McBride signed a 72-member House letter urging Netanyahu to contain settler violence in the West Bank, prosecute attacks on Palestinians and “halt further settlement approvals,” written “out of concern for Israel’s long-term security as well as for the safety of Palestinians.” On July 15, 2026 she voted Aye on the Massie amendment cutting $3.3 billion in military financing for Israel, and on September 30, 2026 she said that, as the Israeli government’s actions unfolded after October 7, she and many Americans “have come to the conclusion that those actions go far beyond self-defense.” On Oct 21, 2026, after Israeli forces detained Brad Lander and other Americans at the olive harvest, she called it “a shameful action by the Israeli government that I wholeheartedly condemn,” wrote that “The Israeli government’s actions in the West Bank have increasingly violated international law,” and said: “The Israeli government must understand that their actions have consequences — and US political leaders must be willing to do more to reinforce that.”
A 2/3. She calls herself a “staunch supporter of Israel,” backs aid and a two-state solution, and cosponsored the U.S.-Israel Defense Partnership Act (H.R.1229); $43,286 reached her through AIPAC’s PAC (direct and earmarked) and $1,000 through DMFI’s PAC in 2024. But she has broken publicly with Israel’s conduct and voted to cut its military financing. On July 15, 2026 she voted Aye on the Massie amendment stripping $3.3 billion in military financing for Israel, and on September 30, 2026 she said of the Israeli government’s actions since October 7, “I and many Americans have come to the conclusion that those actions go far beyond self-defense.” She signed the 2025 letter urging a surge of infant formula into Gaza and the September 2026 letter on settler violence, cosponsors UNRWA restoration (H.R.2411) and voted Nay on the 2025 ICC-sanctions bill and the 2026 anti-boycott bill. Counter-case: 2, since in the same answer she said people “were right and are right that Israel has a right to exist and defend itself,” she would not support McCollum-style aid restrictions, and she cosponsors no bill limiting weapons.
