Sarahana Shrestha

D · New York State Assembly, District 103 · Tier 4/5

Tier 4/5, between “Critical / conditions aid” and “Critical on most positions”

Position

AD-103 incumbent (Hudson Valley/Ulster); Mid-Hudson Valley DSA, part of the statewide Socialists in Office bloc. Co-sponsor of the Not on Our Dime Act and a ceasefire and Palestinian-rights advocate. Shrestha cosponsors A11289, the version of Not on Our Dime that Diana Moreno introduced on May 8, 2026 (same as S606), as she did Mamdani’s A6101, whose enacting clause was struck in January 2026. In her own words she called on members of Congress to back war-powers bills on Iran “and end unconditional aid to Israel” (Mar 1, 2026), and said assaults on aid flotillas to Gaza “are among the many violations of international laws that are being conducted by Israel, including those against the people of Palestine” (May 1, 2026).

Why this tier

A 4/5, on her record as an assemblymember. She cosponsors Not on Our Dime (A11289, the May 2026 version, as she did Mamdani’s A6101), co-signed the April 2024 Socialists in Office statement naming “the ongoing genocide in Gaza” and “Israeli apartheid,” and signed the January 2024 JVP Action letter for a permanent ceasefire. In her own voice she says the assaults on aid flotillas to Gaza “are among the many violations of international laws that are being conducted by Israel, including those against the people of Palestine” (May 2026). What stops her short of 5 is that her own words on U.S. aid stop at conditions: in March 2026 she urged members of Congress to back the Iran war-powers bills “and end unconditional aid to Israel,” a call for terms on the aid, not for cutting it off. Nothing in her own voice questions Israel’s legitimacy: no BDS by name, no anti-Zionist self-identification, no right-of-return demand. Counter-case: 5, since an assemblymember has no vote on U.S. aid or arms, and Not on Our Dime is the measure within her reach.
