Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”

Position

Asked in the Baltimore Sun's 2024 voter guide whether the U.S. should speak out more clearly about civilian casualties in Gaza, he answered that he has “always known Israeli Defense Force to show the utmost restraint when attacking targets in or near civilian areas,” contrasted that with Palestinians “attacking Israeli men, women and children,” and said the chant “From the river to the sea” “refers to Jewish genocide.” The answers remain on his campaign site's Issues page; in the same guide he opposed further Ukraine aid and “senseless wars,” pledging to “restore peace in the Middle East and also in Ukraine.”

Why this tier

A 1/2, not a clean 1. Given an open question about Gaza's civilian dead, he defended the Israeli military's conduct and pivoted to a Palestine-solidarity chant — zero daylight, with no concern expressed for Palestinian civilians. There is no leadership on the issue: he has never held office, authored nothing and has no Israel-centred brand. His anti-war line is about Ukraine aid and depleted stockpiles and never extends to aid to Israel, so it does not count toward the critical end.
