Shane Lewis

R · U.S. House, CA-18 · Tier 1/2

Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”

Position

A Marine veteran, medical-device test engineer and former church worship leader in San Jose challenging Rep. Zoe Lofgren, he runs on immigration reform with accountability and assimilation, tax reform and rebuilding the military. Asked in iVoterGuide’s 2026 general-election questionnaire whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, Lewis answered: “Israel is a long-time ally with the united States. The Middle East is home to a number of failed states, and so Israel provides the region with a number of advantages.”

Why this tier

A 1/2, on a thin record: one questionnaire answer. Asked by iVoterGuide in 2026 whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, Lewis called Israel “a long-time ally with the united States” that gives the region “a number of advantages.” That is unqualified support, with nothing on aid, weapons, Gaza or Palestinian civilians. His Ballotpedia survey and campaign site never mention Israel, Gaza or Palestine. There is no leadership on the issue: no vote, bill or other act on Israel is on record. Counter-case: unrated until he says more.
