Tier 3, “Pro-Israel, critical”

Position

He is a retired Army brigadier general who served as a U.S. Senior Defense Attaché in Israel. On the second anniversary of October 7 he wrote that "The genocide in Gaza is inexcusable" and that "it needs to stop and all the hostages need to be returned home now," while backing "a two state solution for Palestine and Israel"; in March 2026 he said "I’m not taking AIPAC money."

Why this tier

A flat 3. He criticizes the conduct of the war in the strongest terms — "genocide" in his own voice (October 2025) and a demand that it stop — while backing two states, and he refuses AIPAC money. But he has stated no position on military aid or weapons, and "genocide" alone does not carry a candidate past 3/4; he also hedged it in the same post ("Whether you consider it a genocide, an ethic cleansing, or the killing of thousands of people"). The counter-case runs both ways: 2/3, given that hedge, his 2024 platform's call to "expand the Abraham Accords" and his defense-attaché background; or 3/4, if the genocide language and the AIPAC refusal are read together as a break.
