Stephanie Vargas
R · U.S. House, CA-33 · Tier 1/2
Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”
A lifelong district resident challenging Rep. Pete Aguilar, she runs on supporting police and firefighters, parental rights, the cost of living and housing, and election integrity. Asked in iVoterGuide’s 2026 general-election questionnaire whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, Vargas answered: “Yes. The United States’ relationship with Israel is vital. Israel is a reliable ally that shares our democratic values, and our partnership strengthens regional security through intelligence and strategic cooperation. In a region with hostile extremist threats, this alliance protects American interests. As a Christian, I also value Israel’s biblical significance and support its right to exist in peace.”
A 1/2, on a thin record: one questionnaire answer. Asked by iVoterGuide in 2026 whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, Vargas called the relationship “vital” and Israel “a reliable ally that shares our democratic values,” adding that as a Christian she values “Israel’s biblical significance.” That is unqualified support, with nothing on aid, weapons, Gaza or Palestinian civilians. Her Ballotpedia survey and campaign site never state a view on Israel or Gaza; the one Iran mention is a speaker at an event she attended, not her own words. There is no leadership on the issue: no vote, bill or other act on Israel is on record. Counter-case: unrated until she says more.
