Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”
A Monroe state senator since 2020 and Army engineer veteran of two Afghanistan tours. He was one of 34 listed authors of the Legislature’s 2021 resolution urging Congress to “take such actions as are necessary to support Israel” (HCR 96, Senate 37-0), and in April 2024 voted for SCR 21 (Senate 26-0), which resolved to “Stand with Israel as it defends itself” and backed Israel’s right to reject any settlement with the Palestinians not reached in direct negotiations. In his 2023 iVoterGuide questionnaire he marked “Strongly Disagree” on supporting the BDS movement. In his 2026 iVoterGuide questionnaire for Congress he wrote that “Israel is our strongest and most important ally in the Middle East and a critical partner on intelligence, security, and defense.” His congressional campaign runs on veterans and service to northeast Louisiana.
A 1/2, not a clean 1, on a thin record of statehouse acts and questionnaire answers. As a Louisiana state senator his acts point one way. He was one of 34 listed authors, under lead author Rep. Hodges, of the 2021 resolution urging Congress to “take such actions as are necessary to support Israel.” In April 2024, during the genocide, he voted for SCR 21, which resolved to “Stand with Israel as it defends itself” and backed Israel’s rejection of any settlement not reached in direct talks. In his 2023 iVoterGuide questionnaire he marked “Strongly Disagree” on supporting BDS, and in his 2026 questionnaire for Congress he called Israel “our strongest and most important ally in the Middle East.” None of it is leadership: he was one of dozens of authors rather than the author, both resolutions were nonbinding and passed the Senate without a dissenting vote, and his campaign site says nothing about Israel. He has voiced no concern for Palestinian civilians; SCR 21’s line mourning “all innocent civilians” comes beside its backing for Israel’s war. Counter-case: unrated, since unanimous ceremonial votes say little about one senator.
