Ted Brown
I · U.S. Senate, Texas · Tier 4
Tier 4, “Critical / conditions aid”
Insurance professional and perennial Libertarian candidate (TX-17 in 2020, Texas House in 2022, the 2024 U.S. Senate nominee), again the party's Senate nominee against Ken Paxton and James Talarico. His platform would “End all foreign aid payments” and says the U.S. should “not be providing any military or financial aid to any foreign countries, especially those in the Middle East,” citing “the financing of Israel's massive destruction of Gaza and other nearby countries” among the costs of U.S. intervention. Asked in iVoterGuide’s 2026 general-election questionnaire whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, Brown answered: “The relationship is understandable but has outlived its usefulness. U.S. military support of Israel has destabilized the Middle East and led us to all the conflicts we have there now. Most Americans sympathized with Israel after the 2023 Hamas attack, but Israel's out-of-proportion, over-the top response has led to the deaths of 70,000+ women and children in war crimes and absolutely destroyed Israel's ‘brand name’ all over the world. We must end our military and financial support of Israel.”
A 4. His platform would “End all foreign aid payments,” “especially” in the Middle East, and his 2026 iVoterGuide answer makes it Israel’s by name: “We must end our military and financial support of Israel.” He argues it on Israel’s conduct, not only on cost: Israel’s “out-of-proportion, over-the top response has led to the deaths of 70,000+ women and children in war crimes,” and U.S. military support “has destabilized the Middle East.” That is an end to military aid in his own words, with no exception for defensive systems, on human-rights grounds. What holds it at 4 is that he does not call it a genocide, and the stance grows from his party’s non-interventionism. He does not back BDS (“I don’t favor sanctions against governments,” he wrote in 2022), though he said he “would repeal the Texas law that forbids people doing business with the state from participating in BDS”; no anti-Zionist or right-of-return position is on record. Counter-case: 3/4, if the answer is read as the Libertarian blanket stance applied to Israel.
