Tom Sell

R · U.S. House, TX-19 · Tier 1/2

Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”

Position

Asked in his 2026 iVoterGuide questionnaire whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, he answered: “It is very important. Israel is a key and stable strategic ally in a very important region of the world.” A Lubbock businessman and former aide to Rep. Larry Combest, the Trump-endorsed nominee for the open TX-19 seat runs on agriculture, energy, the border and Trump's “peace through strength” foreign policy.

Why this tier

A 1/2, not a clean 1. His one statement on Israel is unqualified support — a “key and stable strategic ally” — and nothing in his record expresses concern for Palestinian civilians, which is the zero-daylight 1/2. There is no leadership on the issue: he holds no office and has written no Israel legislation. The record is thin — a single questionnaire answer and nothing on military aid, weapons or Gaza — so the counter-case is NR until he says more.
