Tonya Hudson

I · U.S. House, IN-9 · Tier 3

Tier 3, “Pro-Israel, critical”

Position

A Libertarian running in IN-9 for the third time, after 2020 and 2022 (she was the party's 2024 nominee for lieutenant governor), on taxes, the national debt, cannabis legalization and ending the Iran war. In June 2026 she wrote that she would not vote for the FY2027 NDAA unless Section 224 is amended, calling its integration of U.S. and Israeli militaries “unprecedented and dangerous to our sovereignty,” and in March 2026 that the Trump administration “made a huge miscalculation attacking Iran on behalf of the State of Israel.” In November 2025 she faulted the F-35 sale to Saudi Arabia, citing the legal requirement that U.S. arms sales in the region not put Israel's security at risk. Asked in iVoterGuide’s 2026 general-election questionnaire whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, Hudson answered: “The U.S. relationship with all our allies is important but should not be paramount.”

Why this tier

A 3. Her Israel-specific record is a pull-back from military ties: she would vote against the defense bill over its U.S.–Israel weapons integration — a single step toward limiting weapons cooperation — and she says the Iran war was fought on Israel's behalf, which together sit in the supportive-but-critical middle. Nothing in it addresses Gaza or Palestinians, her case against Section 224 rests on sovereignty and Congress's war powers, and her opposition to all foreign aid is a blanket stance that on its own does not place her. Counter-case: 2/3, since she treats Israel as an ally Congress may choose to support and invoked Israel's security to fault the Saudi F-35 sale.
