R · U.S. House, KS-1 · Tier 1/2

Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”

Position

Kansas Republican who rose in the House in May 2024, as the Antisemitism Awareness Act passed, to call the campus protests over Gaza “ill-informed mobs who believe that Hamas, a terrorist organization, is good for the people of Gaza,” and again in June 2025 to say “Our support for Israel must never waver.” An original cosponsor of H.R.8369 against the 2024 arms pause, he said after it passed “In no world would America tolerate barbaric terrorism from any neighboring country” and that “Israel should not be forced to tolerate it either.” He voted for the 2023–24 aid supplementals, H.Res.894, the Antisemitism Awareness Act, H.R.8369, ICC sanctions (2024 and 2025) and the September 2026 anti-boycott bill, and against the 2025 Greene and 2026 Massie cuts; his office lists him as a member of the Abraham Accords, Israel Allies and Transatlantic Friends of Israel caucuses.

Why this tier

A 1/2, not a clean 1. He is a vocal supporter — several House speeches, a defense of the bomb shipments during the Rafah offensive, and membership in three Israel caucuses — but none of it is leadership: he holds no caucus office, has written no Israel legislation and runs no pro-Israel fundraising brand. No statement of concern for Palestinian civilians surfaced; his one reference to the people of Gaza comes in dismissing the campus protests, which rules out a flat 2. Counter-case: a clean 1 if the repeated House speeches and caucus memberships are read as a leadership brand, though membership alone does not usually carry that weight.
