Tier 3/4, between “Pro-Israel, critical” and “Critical / conditions aid”
Original Block the Bombs cosponsor; released a Sept 2025 'Statement on Genocide in Gaza.' Took $11,610 in AIPAC PAC money in 2022 and none since. Whether she has renounced it is contested: JTA reported in March 2026 that she 'has done the same as Kelly' — swore off AIPAC funds — and The Intercept glossed her town-hall answer as saying she no longer accepts the group's donations, but her own words, at an Aug 2025 El Paso town hall, describe only the status quo: “I had AIPAC support early on in my elected life — I do not receive AIPAC support, it’s been years,” a description of the status quo rather than a commitment to decline future money. She voted for the April 2024 aid package and takes no full-embargo position (in April 2024 she called to “withhold all offensive weapons to Israel immediately” while backing defensive weapons); her one vote to cut off Israel’s military financing was an Aye on the July 15, 2026 Massie amendment (roll 243). She also cosponsored a House arms-disapproval resolution (H.J.Res.83) and the Ceasefire Compliance Act, and is endorsed by J Street. Letters she signed urged sanctions on Israeli ministers Smotrich and Ben-Gvir over incitement of settler violence (October 2024), demanded answers on the detentions of the student activists Mahmoud Khalil (March 2025) and Mohsen Mahdawi (April 2025), urged Secretary Rubio to press Israel to allow a surge of aid into Gaza, above all infant formula (August 2025), opposed West Bank annexation with most House Democrats (September 2025) and asked the administration to warn Israel off annexation and the E-1 settlement and to reimpose Biden-era West Bank sanctions (January 2026). Escobar co-led the Stop the Settlements Act (H.R.10642, introduced Oct 1, 2026), which would sanction those who build or expand Israeli settlements in the West Bank and Gaza and ban imports of settlement goods. On Sep 24, 2026 Escobar also signed the Pocan–Quigley letter on Palestinian medical workers held by Israel without charge and a 72-member letter urging Netanyahu to contain settler violence in the West Bank and “halt further settlement approvals.” In June 2026 Escobar signed a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, led by Reps. Becca Balint and Joaquin Castro, on Israel’s operations in southern Lebanon, saying Israel’s “targeted, mass destruction of civilian homes and infrastructure does not constitute Israeli self-defense” and asking that, if U.S.-origin arms were confirmed in those operations, the administration “stop arms transfers being used in these operations until these violations cease”; the letter also affirmed that “Israel has a right to defend itself.” Jewish Insider reported on Oct 23, 2026 that Escobar was among about 30 signers of a draft letter, led by Rep. Ro Khanna and gathering signatures through Nov 6, urging the negotiators of the 2027 defense authorization bill to strip its U.S.-Israel defense-technology cooperation provisions; the draft, which cites Israel’s conduct in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon, says “These are not the actions of a government whose defense establishment should be granted deeper access to American military technology, nor rewarded with U.S. defense contracts,” and asks that any framework kept “carry human rights conditions consistent with those governing other United States security assistance.”
Original Block the Bombs cosponsor (May 21, 2025) who also cosponsored a House arms-disapproval resolution (H.J.Res.83, Apr 1 2025) and is an ORIGINAL cosponsor of Casten’s Ceasefire Compliance Act (Feb 23 2026, one of its 25 original cosponsors), and released a Sept 2025 ‘Statement on Genocide in Gaza.’ On July 15, 2026 she also cosponsored the McCollum Palestinian children’s-rights bill (H.R.7545). That arms-conditioning record leans toward 4; her Yeas on the April 2024 aid package and the IHRA-based Antisemitism Awareness Act (May 2024), and no full-embargo position, keep her from a clean 4. The $11,610 in AIPAC PAC money is from 2022, with none since.
