Zach Nunn

R · U.S. House, IA-3 · Tier 1

Tier 1, “Firmly pro-Israel”

Position

RJC-endorsed, Trump-aligned pro-Israel Republican. Days after October 7 he was lead sponsor of H.Res.770 (with Don Davis, D-NC, as first cosponsor), declaring “unwavering support for the State of Israel” and calling on the President to provide “intelligence, military, and diplomatic support.” His proposal for a strategic partnership between the Pentagon’s Defense Innovation Unit and Israel’s Ministry of Defense was included in the final FY2025 defense bill, and in September 2025 the House passed his amendments for a U.S.–Israel defense innovation field office and a joint missile-defense strategy with Israel. On his own “Supporting Israel” page he says he has “stood steadily alongside” Israel since October 7 and touts working with the IDF. He voted for the 2024 aid package, and he was an original cosponsor of the May 2024 bill to force delivery of the bombs Biden paused and voted for it. No Gaza-civilian humanitarian statement. In January 2024 he signed the Smith–Manning letter, whose signers “thoroughly reject” South Africa’s “charge of genocide” against Israel.

Why this tier

A clean 1 on authored legislation. Nunn writes Israel measures rather than only voting for them. Days after October 7 he was lead sponsor of H.Res.770, declaring “unwavering support for the State of Israel” and calling on the President to provide “intelligence, military, and diplomatic support”; his proposal for a partnership between the Pentagon’s Defense Innovation Unit and Israel’s Ministry of Defense was included in the final FY2025 defense bill; and in September 2025 the House passed his amendments for a U.S.–Israel defense innovation field office and a joint missile-defense strategy with Israel. He was an original cosponsor of the May 2024 bill forcing delivery of the paused bombs and has voted for every tracked Israel measure. His words match: he called campus protesters “terrorist sympathizers who serve as ‘useful idiots’ for Hamas,” and no concern for Palestinian civilians surfaced. Counter-case: a 1/2, since the defense-bill provisions are cooperation programs that passed without opposition and the resolution never reached a vote.
